Meet Emma
Emma Blevins, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
I take a holistic and person-centered approach to art therapy and counseling, rooted in the belief that everyone has the potential to grow and change when met with compassion and curiosity. I aim to help clients better understand and accept themselves by increasing insight and self-awareness through creating a safe, authentic, and nonjudgemental therapy environment. From there, I incorporate other therapeutic approaches on an individualized basis, including CBT, DBT skills, psychodynamic and Jungian psychoanalytic theories, and existential therapy to help clients heal, meet their goals, and better cope with life's stressors. My practice is deeply grounded in a trauma-informed perspective, as I understand the multifaceted challenges brought on by surviving difficult experiences.
I value working with people from all walks of life, and especially enjoy connecting with young adults (Gen Z and millennials) and women who are interested in healing from past experiences and breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma. I am also passionate about working with people who are or feel "different" from others, whether that be neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism; people from marginalized communities, including LGBTQIA+; diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds; and anyone else who has felt that they don't quite fit in. I hope to help you feel seen and heard for the valuable person that you are, and discover and utilize your unique personal strengths to your advantage. My ideal client is willing to trust the process of therapy, engage in artmaking to facilitate and deepen that process, and explore creative problem- solving. I have witnessed the life-changing benefits of art therapy in my work, and as a result I am a firm believer in the value of the creative process for healing.
Since beginning my career in 2018, I have gained experience working in a variety of settings including outpatient telehealth therapy, state hospital, intensive in-home therapy, alternative school, juvenile detention, and hospital inpatient. I'm committed to lifelong learning by continuing to further my education and expand my skills, including seeking additional training in DBT and CPT. Currently I provide art therapy and counseling to individuals with mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, trauma and PTSD, relationship and family challenges, substance use and addiction, eating disorders, and life transitions.
